Recording
In
recent years SRT has made many highly-acclaimed recordings -
both in the studio and on location - ranging from jazz & rock-bands
through to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Whilst orchestral recordings
are typically made at London venues like Watford Town Hall or All Saints
Church in Tooting, smaller classical ensembles and jazz musicians often
prefer to work in the comfortable, intimate surroundings of Studio 4,
our live room. Recently we took out a 24-track setup for a live location
recording at a major Blues festival.
Always
at the cutting edge of recording technology, SRT was one of the first
studios in the world to offer 20-bit multitrack recording facilities,
and now 24 bit 96 kHz - Studio 3 is based around the 56-channel, 24/96
Yamaha O2R96 - and we were responsible for a ground-breaking series
of 120 recordings for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, using Sony's
then unique Super Bit-Mapping (SBM) process. Now working with the latest
32-bit technology, we also offer voice-over recording services for
a wide range of customers - audio-book dramas, corporate video soundtracks,
video-games and CD-ROM products.
Jazz musicians in particular seem to enjoy working at SRT - legendary
trumpeter Kenny Ball has recorded three albums at SRT now, and singer
Tina May recently completed a second album here. Other artists include
Alec Dankworth, John Taylor, Dave Heath, Phil Robson, Julian Arguiles,
Gene Calderazo... Classical artists we've been able to welcome include
Chrispian Steele-Perkins, Ronan O'Hora and members of the RPO strings.
All our customers appreciate the comfortable, friendly surroundings
as well as the great sound of Studio 4. Mastering-calibre monitoring
and ears allow us to bring a unique perspective to our work, and SRT
can offer inclusive recording-mastering-replication packages at highly
competitive rates.
